Articles and webpages - general gifted education resources

Blogs from Other Educators:
http://www.brianhousand.com/ I had the privilege of working with Brian at ECU during the 2017-2018 academic year. He is now the AIG Program Coordinator at UNC Wilmington. http://www.giftedguru.com/ I stumbled across this blog when reading Brian's webpage (see above). Lots of great stuff here; many thought-provoking and informative pieces aimed toward parents. https://www.byrdseed.com/ More good stuff from someone I found through a colleague's blog. https://www.investigatingchoicetime.com/ Not gifted-specific, but a WONDERFUL resource on inquiry-based learning, which is good teaching for ALL kids, but perhaps especially for gifted kids. WSFCS AIG is working to implement inquiry-based learning strategies in classrooms county-wide, and I believe strongly in this method (and am extremely proud to serve as a model for other educators in this capacity). https://www.responsiveclassroom.org/ Also not-gifted-specific, but extremely valuable, especially for educators. DTS has adopted Responsive Classroom schoolwide, and I believe strongly in its philosophies. Giftedness can often bring with it unique social and emotional struggles, and while Responsive Classroom is good for everyone, I maintain that it provides a special benefit for our gifted students, as well. |
